There's a myth out there that if you stay at an All-Inclusive Resort you are going to be sacrificing the quality of food, room, and overall amenities. Simply stated, that is not true! While an all-inclusive vacation will provide tremendous value to your getaway, it does not mean it will provide tremendous disappointment in the level of service and amenities. The all-inclusive concept has matured over the years. There are now all inclusive resorts designed with every budget in mind and the level of everything on property is in line with the price you pay. Lets take a look at some of my favorite higher end all-inclusive resorts. I promise, if you are a 5 star hotel snob (don't worry, I am at times too), these resorts will exceed your expectations in all areas.
Grand Velas Resort and Spa: (pictured right) Locations in Riviera Maya (East coast of Mexico; fly into Cancun) and Riviera Nayarit (West coast of Mexico; fly into Puerto Vallarta)
This resort is pure luxury. Both locations mimic each other in concept and design of their service and accommodations. The level of service is top notch and the cuisine is just amazing. I had some of the best a la carte meals here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The buffet option here is just as good. I mention the buffet because I don't want you to think you are going to a buffet like the other all-inclusive resorts have. This buffet literally has individual portions of everything in each serving dish so you aren't scooping out lunch with the masses. And the moment you turn around, there is someone there to carry your plate back to the table for you. It's that level of service you will find from the time you check in, until the time you check out in every area of the hotel. Much of the staff is trained to remember your name, making the stay a bit more comfortable and friendlier. The rooms are breathtaking. Both properties accept children but it is important to know the Riviera Maya property has an adults only section if you choose to vacation without the little ones running around. The spa at the Riviera Maya property is also 40,000 square feet!!! It might have been the best spa experience I have ever had. The Nayarit location has the exact same type of rooms but not as many rooms so the overall property is smaller in design.
Leblanc Resort and Spa, Cancun: This resort is designed for honeymooners and those in love. Elegant in design with its all white décor, the rooms are a very nice size with whites, silvers, and beige decorating the rooms. The location of the resort is perfect. While it is located on the Cancun strip, it is not the noisy spring break many think about when they think of Cancun. Trust me, you would never know you were on the Cancun strip. The beach is gorgeous and the infinity pools here will make for some stunning pictures overlooking the shades of blue in the ocean. The staff here goes above and beyond to take care of all your needs and every floor has a butler to help prepare your room with a warm bath while you are at dinner, or maybe a choice of aromatherapy or a pillow from the pillow menu.
Hermitage Bay, Antigua: (pictured below) This is one resort that is still on my bucket list right now. I have heard nothing but amazing things for this resort. Just 25 suites nestled into the hillside of Antigua, their website refers to them a cabins or high end tree top villas. By the looks of it, and by the reviews of them, that's exactly what they are. They only have one restaurant but the menu changes daily so you are always getting new choices. This is one of those properties where, because of the size, you say and immediately feel like family. I love properties like that which is why I can't wait to stay here. The repeat clientele is very high here because Andy Thesen, co-owner of the property, makes sure everyone arrives as guests, but leaves as friends of the resort.
